It's that time again! Mardi Gras in Mobile & Baldwin County.

It's a big deal in these here parts. This year Debbie & I took the kids to two parades. Friday night C of C in Mobile and Saturday we attended the Mullet Maids parade and spent the afternoon with our good friends Margaret & Milton Brown.

Last Friday, 4:00 pm - shutting down for a nice Mardi Gras weekend... NOT!

We got the call and the storyboard Friday at 4:00. The opportunity, if we wanted to take it, was to shoot stills & video for a brand new TV show promotion. It's a take-off of the hit show "Extreme Makeover" except it's for African-American Churches in need of renovation! Nice idea!

LA California Network exec. Lee Gaither was down to the wire and HAD to have video & images from local African-American church services... and he found MyShotz!

The only issue was that he HAD to have them Monday (uh... TODAY) and it was Mardi Gras weekend in Mobile! We accepted the challenge and started making calls to local churches. All would be OK if we could find one outside the perimeter of Downtown since Sunday was Joe Cain day. WELL... it didn't quite work out that way. The BEST Church to use was one with the richest history and heritage - Big Zion AME Zion Church - right across the street from our studios... SMACK DAB in the middle of the Joe Cain festivities!

But, Ashley & I shot it and it turned out GREAT! We made the deadline and hopefully pleased the network. It's all in a days'... uh, weekends'... work!

Well, this isn't really FUN - it's more interesting than anything else.

An all too common 'Bayway backup' on the I-10 portion that crosses Mobile Bay. I have gotten in the habit when driving to Mobile from Daphne to ALWAYS look towards downtown Mobile before getting on the Bayway. If it's foggy - or traffic is backed up, I take the alternate route. This day, I had my camera and snapped this shot out the window just before driving to work via the Causeway!

Always be careful when driving - especially on the I-10 Mobile Bayway!

I snapped this last week during our Monday evening ritual - Mullet & Grits with Debbie's dad at Ed's Seafood Shed on the Causeway.

The sun presented a beautiful display and I was able to shoot several images from the deck of Ed's - If you haven't ever been there for dinner, give it a try! The food is as good OR BETTER than this gorgeous sunset!
